How It Works
A tennis racket and ball are on a tennis court.
  • Determine Your Needs and Budget

    • Assess Your Lifestyle: Consider how often you cook, entertain, and what kitchen features you prioritize (e.g., storage, island, seating, appliances).
    • Set a Budget: Decide on a realistic budget to guide your decisions on materials, cabinets, countertops, and appliances.
    • Find your style: Start researching styles and concepts that suit your aesthetic.

  • Measure Your Space

    • Take Accurate Measurements: Do the best you can to measure your kitchen area, including walls, doors (trim to trim), windows (trim to trim and distance from floor), and ceiling height. Pictures always help. Measuring just your existing cabinets limits what your cabinet designer can quote and help with during your design phase. Having a full picture helps resolve function of existing spaces and know what components fit your space.
    • Account for Utilities: Mark the locations of water, gas, and electrical outlets to ensure compatibility with your appliance choices. This also assures avoiding costly relocation of utilities when creating the new design.
    • Measurements can be done by your or your contractor

  • Envision a Layout

Choose a Kitchen Layout: Common layouts include:

    • U-shaped for maximum counter and cabinet space.
    • L-shaped for open flow and more room for dining.
    • Galley for compact spaces.
    • Island or Peninsula for additional counter space and storage.

Consider Workflow: Does your current space work for you and your family? Envision what might improve your space to make your kitchen not only aesthetically pleasing but functional.

At this point, our designer can meet with you and talk through your plans and ideas. A preliminary quote can be created to help you resolve your budget questions. Once a budget and brand of cabinets is firmly established, Shapes Supply requests an estimated 10% deposit to start the full design process.

  • Select Materials and Finishes

    • Cabinets: Shapes Supply can help you choose from various types like solid wood, MDF, or plywood. Styles range from traditional to modern, and you can customize with colors and finishes.
    • Countertops: Additionally, Shapes has popular materials include granite, quartz, and marble. Consider durability, maintenance, and appearance.
    • Backsplash and Flooring: While Shapes Supply doesn’t offer tile or flooring options now is the time to select your materials to coordinate with your countertops and cabinets. Ceramic tiles, stone, and glass are common for backsplashes, while flooring options include tile, hardwood, or vinyl.
    • Appliances: Again, Shapes Supply does not offer appliances, but this is a very important step to assure a successful kitchen design. Select energy-efficient, appropriately sized appliances like refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and dishwashers. Keep a list of brands and model numbers to assist our designer in assuring the fit and operation in your new kitchen

  • Work with a Kitchen Designer

    • Consult with the Professional: Once a deposit is made our kitchen designer can help refine your vision, suggest layouts, materials, and create 3D renderings.
    • Review the Concept: Shapes Design Binder includes floor plans, elevations, color and black/white rendering, and cabinet details to make you feeling confident in your choices and assist your contractor with installation of your new kitchen. Our designer will sit down with you and review every detail of the layout, from cabinets and appliances to colors and finishes.
  • Finalize Design and Place Orders

    • Confirm Your Design: Our designer will sit down with you at your final design meeting and review every detail of the layout, from cabinets and appliances to colors and finishes. The original 10% deposit is applied at this time to your final balance. Sign off on the drawings is required and then a deposit that takes your payment to a 50% minimum down payment.
    • Order Materials: Purchase cabinets, countertops, flooring, and appliances. Lead times can vary, so order early to avoid delays. Shapes Supply will handle placing the order and reviewing every detail on the cabinetry order. We then will track the arrival of the cabinets to a local warehouse. Once the warehouse confirms delivery our Project Coordinator will contact you to set up a delivery time convenient for you.
  • Prepare for Installation

Work with your contractor regarding expectations for installation of your new kitchen. Be sure to inspect deliveries for missing items or damaged pieces. Your or your contractor should contact Shapes Supply as soon as possible regarding any issues you find. Our designer will work on obtaining or replacing any items found.

Mike was extremely helpful from initial consultation and design through delivery, install, and even following up on some post install issues. Quality of all the products were top notch.

Highly recommend.
